Our B&W Group Darkroom is available to members for $10 per session and to non-members for $14 per hour.

Negatives up to 4×5 may be printed as large as 16×20. The darkroom is well-ventilated and well-lit (bright by darkroom standards). Sprint brand print chemistry is included. There is a nominal fee for film chemistry.

  • Two Beseler 4×5 condenser enlargers. Available negative carriers include 35mm, 645, 6×6, 6×7, 6×9, mounted slide, and 4×5. One of these enlargers has been adapted to print negatives up to 8×10.
  • One Beseler 23CII condenser. Available negative carriers include 35mm, 126, 645, 6×6, 6×7, 6×9, and mounted slide.
  • One Beseler 23 CIII Variable Contrast. This enlarger has built-in contrast filters and a diffusion head. Available negative carriers include 35mm, 126, 645, 6×6, 6×7, 6×9, and mounted slide.
  • One Saunders/LPL 670 VCCE. Similar to the preceding Beseler—a diffusion head with built-in contrast filters. Available negative carriers include 35mm, 645, 6×6, and 6×7.

Appropriate lenses are provided for the format in which you’re working – 50mm, 75 or 80mm, 105mm, and 135mm. All lenses are of Nikon quality or better. Each enlarging station also includes a four-bladed easel, 4-in-1 easel, contact proofer, digital timer, focusing sight, and contrast filters. You need bring only your negatives and a means to clean them. You may bring your own paper or purchase it here. Sometimes you need only a few sheets to finish a project. We will sell individual sheets of select papers. Just ask what we have available.

Roll film and 4×5 sheets can be tank processed in the group darkroom. Tray processing of sheet films requires advance notice. Stainless tanks and reels for 35mm, 120, 220, 620, 127, 116 and 616 film are available, as well as plastic tanks with adjustable reels and tanks for 4×5 film.

Rental Rates of the B&W Group Darkroom:
Hourly: $14 non-member
Member Session Fee: $10 (a session is your time here on any one day, no matter what the duration)

Film processing incurs an additional nominal chemistry fee.
