Alternative and historical photographic processes are an important part of the offerings at PhotoSynthesis. Use our vacuum frame and UV light source to learn cyanotype, salted paper, gum bichromate, platinum, vandyke brown, and numerous other contact printing methods. These processes can be difficult, labor-intensive, and sometimes expensive, but the rewards and satisfaction you may achieve in your successes at these art forms are well worth it.

We encourage you to experiment with alternative photographic processes. We will be expanding our available chemicals and papers as time goes on. Please inquire.

Rental Rates for Alternative Processes Equipment:
Hourly: $14 non-member
Member Session Fee: $10 (a session is your time here on any one day, no matter what the duration)

Chemistry, papers, and other materials are additional.
